Director of Ripley County Emergency Management, Lance Pigg, has issued a No Open Burn Order for Ripley County. The Burn Ban was issued on Thursday, Oct. 13. A Proclamation of Fire Danger Emergency states, “No open burning of leaves, limbs or other yard waste or household trash of any kind, and no use of campfires, incinerators, or fireworks shall be allowed in the county during such period.”

Ripley County has also been under a red flag warning this week due to “gusty west winds, relative humidity dropping to around 20 percent, and dry fuels” which will result in critical fire danger, according to the National Weather Service.

Lance Pigg added, “It has been very dry and the rain we received yesterday did not help. We have waited awhile to issue the ban, but like today it has got to the point where there is no reason to burn at all.” Lance Pigg said referring to the red flag warning issued by NWS on Oct. 13.
