Organizers of the Butler County Exhibits and More event agree they were pleased with the results.
Butler County Exhibits and More Superintendent Betty Schalk said, “We are very pleased with the way Exhibits and More turned out. We had 93 entries of quality items in the youth division.”
The 57 adults, who participated, had 268 entries. Total premiums paid out to the adult and youth divisions were $673.
Grand prize winners include: overall quilt division, Patty Stone; Best of Show quilt, Mary Lovette; rice bundle, Mike Smody; yellow tomatoes, John Perry; wood carving, Gerald Lamb; loaf of bread, Cassie Garner; purse, Kaye Carda; photography, Bruce Beck; and canned black-eyed peas, Jane Arnold. The grand prizes were paid for by PBMO.com.
There were 38 quilts entered and organizers gave a special thanks to Delores Reed and her husband, Delbert, for the quilt display. They also thanked Michelle Adams of Eugene Fields for her students’ craft entries and Charlie Barker at Twin Rivers for the FFA entries of crops.
Grand prize winners were: Evan Bonifield, cotton; Ila Ellerbe, recycled paper dress; Abecca Ellerbe, banana bread; and Rebekah Garner, canned green beans.
According to Jane Arnold, treasurer, 37 youth received premiums amounting to $152.50.
Those who helped include retired University of Missouri Extension specialists and staff, Phyllis Flanigan, Bruce Beck, Chris Waite, Kittye Hall and Delores Reed.
Businesses, organizations, and individuals who helped fund the event include: Greenway Equipment, Dr. Scott Kirkley, FCE (Family and Community Education). Missouri Master Gardeners, PBMO.com, VFW Auxiliary and Betty Schalk and Arnold.
Carolyn Melson and Phyllis Newton organized a silent auction to help fund the expenses. FCE members and Master Gardeners gathered items for the auction which netted $850.
