DONIPHAN — A Ripley County man was booked Wednesday at the Butler County jail on charges of murder relating to a double shooting that took place Saturday.
One woman was injured and another left dead following the incident at a home on Route 21 North, in rural Doniphan.
Larry Douglas Greenlee, 55, is being charged with a Class A felony of second-degree murder, a Class B felony of first-degree assault, two felony counts of armed criminal action, and a Class A felony of the unlawful use of a weapon.
According to reports, Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 4:55 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17.
They found Greenlee outside the residence, standing next to a white SUV Cadillac Escalade. Greenlee allegedly told deputies he had shot two people that were inside the residence.
Deputies report he told them the gun he used was in the center console of his vehicle.
Inside, deputies found one woman dead in the back room of the residence with gunshot wounds to the right side of the neck, according to the report.
Another woman at the residence had been shot in the left arm, deputies said. She allegedly said Greenlee had earlier struck her car with his vehicle, then shot one of her tires.
Greenlee continued shooting, firing into the window and front door of the home, witnesses reported. One of the shots struck her in the arm.
The woman stated Greenlee then came into the house and killed the other woman.
The injured woman was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement has not released information concerning what started the altercations. Greenlee was arrested without further incident.
Arraignment was held Wednesday and Greenlee was booked into the Butler County jail.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol DDCC was also called for assistance in the investigation according to Ripley County Sheriff Mike Barton.
