BENTON — A week after losing her re-election bid by only 2 votes in the primary election, Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Amanda L. Oesch has officially started the process for a recount.
According to online court records, Oesch of Scott City, Missouri, filed on Tuesday a “petition to contest election” in Scott County’s 33rd Judicial Circuit. The order was filed Wednesday by Presiding Circuit Judge David A. Dolan. A hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday before Dolan.
Oesch, who was elected in 2018, lost to her challenger, Donald Cobb of Scott City, in a vote of 2,581 to 2,579 on the Republican ballot in the Aug. 2 primary election. There were no Democratic candidates.
