Chief Danny Whiteley said a pedestrian was struck by a dump truck shortly before noon Friday on the campus of Three Rivers College.
The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with what Whiteley said were, “serious but not critical injuries.”
Whiteley stated the accident was a “freak thing.”
The parking lot of the TRC campus is currently being resurfaced and the victim was an employee of the contractor, who was working on the lot at the time of the accident.
The Poplar Bluff Police Department, Poplar Bluff Fire Department and Butler County EMS responded to the scene.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
