POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT

Firefighters responded at 2:18 p.m. Thursday, June 16, to a smoke detector activation at U.S. Bank, 2024 N Westwood Blvd. According to the report, firefighters were advised those inside had smelled smoke and everyone had been evacuated from the building. When firefighters arrived, they learned a smoke detector in the hallway had sounded, but no smoke was visible. An electrician had been at the bank approximately a week ago to make a repair. The crew did not find heat or problem. They changed the battery in the detector that had been alarming and reinstalled it. They suggested the detector be replaced with a new one.

Firefighters responded at 3:23 p.m. Thursday, June 16, to an alarm sounding at the Poplar Bluff Middle School, 1300 Victory Lane. According to the report, Stations 1 and 2 responded. The alarm panel stated to was a sensor in the kitchen, but the kitchen was all clear. School maintenance reset the alarm.

Firefighters were dispatched at 8:13 p.m. Thursday, June 16, smoke in the area of 2761 N. Westwood Blvd. According to the report, there were no visible smoke or odor when crews checked in the area.

Kenneth J. Bramlett, 44, of Sikeston was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 15, on a capias warrant.

Cortez D. Braxton, 27, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 15, suspicion of first degree trafficking or attempted trafficking drugs.

Donald J. Ginochio, 50, of Williamsville was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 15, suspicion of driving while revoked.

Benessa M. Gross, 40, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 15, suspicion of a controlled substance.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

A 64-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, on Highway K, one-half mile west of Leora in Stoddard County.

According to the report, Shirley A. Whittle, 64, of Bloomfield was operating a 2002 Ford F-150 westbound when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.

Whittle was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Nathan A. Esmond, 25, of Piedmont was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, in Scott County on suspicion of DWI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, execeeding the posted speed limit by 26 or more miles per hour, failure to drive on the right half of the road and failure to signal. He was released.

Amy D. Williams, 32, of Essex was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI (drugs) with a minor, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to register a motor vehicle and no seat belt. She was released.
