Poplar Bluff’s Farmers Market opens Saturday, May 21, and patrons this year can expect even greater variety.
Morgan McIntosh of Downtown Poplar Bluff, Inc. explained the annual market “changes every year,” and this year will feature more outdoor vendors as well as food trucks.
“It’s going to look a little bit different as far as variety,” she said.
The Farmers Market is exciting for local growers and small businesses, since it provides a chance to sell goods and network with the community.
Tad Long, owner of Artfully Framed and Archer Gift Company, is entering his fifth year as a vendor.
“I enjoy it a lot because I get to be out and meet the community, meet the people that really respond to local businesses, local produce,” he said. “So it’s nice to get to connect with them and see them.”
The Archer Gift Company stand usually carries soy wax melts, which are also available in store, and this year Long is adding small-batch soy wax candles.
“I definitely look forward to getting out and going to the market and making things for the market... I’m pretty excited about this season,” he added.
The Farmers Market is held Saturdays from May to September, 8 a.m.-noon, in the parking lot across from the Black River Coliseum. The final date is Sept. 17.
