WAPPAPELLO, Mo. — George K. “Kenneth” Boatner Sr., age 86, of Wappapello, died Friday, May 13, 2022 at his residence.
Mr. Boatner was born July 2, 1935 in Edinburg, MS to the late Henry C. and N. Grace Malone Boatner.
He was a lifelong member of Ironworkers Union #396, St. Louis. During his ironworkers employment he worked on the St. Louis Arch construction in 1963. He was an avid cattleman raising Beef Master cattle and hog producer with his family for many years. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. On August 12, 1974 he married Joyce Ann Ford. Between them they had two sons and two daughters.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce; two sons: Skip (Linda) Boatner of Poplar Bluff and Scott (Gina) A. Boatner of Wappapello; one daughter: Carolyn (Fletcher) Jones, of Boomer, N.C.; five grandchildren: Kinnard, Kyle, Amanda, Alicia and Shawna; several great-grandchildren; one brother: Bob (Debbie) Boatner of Diamondhead, Miss.; and two neices: Catherine and Jennifer.
In addition to his parrents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharyn Lynn; two brothers: Thomas Glen and William D. Boatner; and a dear friend, Vida Blazier.
The family request any memorials be made to Southeast Cancer Care Fund, 789 S. Mt Auburn Rd., Cape Girardeau, MO 63703. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
