Herbert Lee Proctor Sr., 82, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away due to heart complications on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis. Missouri.
Herbert, son of the late Irene Smith and the late Lloyd Proctor was born Aug. 20, 1939, in Romulus, Michigan. Herbert graduated high school from Romulus High School in 1956. Immediately after graduation, Herbert joined the United States Marine Corps, attending basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. Herbert proudly served 10 years in the Marine Corps as helicopter crew chief before being honorably discharged.
Herbert worked as an electrical engineer for Cross Company, a manufacturing company based in Detroit, Michigan until retirement. During retirement, Herbert spent his time working with the Yankee Airforce restoring historical aircraft at Willow Run Airport in Van Buren Township, Michigan, and spending time with his family.    
Herbert is survived by his son, Herbert Lee Proctor Jr.; brother, Richard Sumner; grandchildren, Kenneth Proctor Jr., Kacey Proctor, Stacy Edgar, Joseph Proctor, Ryan Proctor, and Cody Proctor; great-grandchildren, Kenlee Edgar, Haylee Proctor, Taylor Proctor, Piper Proctor, Caleb Proctor, Mason Proctor, Lincoln Proctor and William Proctor.
He was preceded in death by his mother Irene Smith and father Lloyd Proctor; two brothers, Jack Stephenson, and David Stephenson; three sisters, Mary Jean Spelich, Ilene Bracey, and Betty Jan Pelton; one son Kenneth Proctor Sr.
A memorial service will be held at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 1 p.m. with full military honors, to celebrate the life of Mr. Proctor.
