Officers responded to the 800 block of Fairmount St. Thursday, March 31, to a report of gunshots. Residents in the area reported seeing a male subject shouting and firing a pistol into the air. No injuries or property damage reported. No suspects have been identified.

Rmployees of Dollar General at 903 Highway 53 reported on Thursday, March 31, that two white females shoplifted approximately $50 worth of merchandise.
POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
City firefighters responded at 9:39 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, to a carbon monoxide detector alarm at 2114 N Westwood Blvd., Colton’s Steakhouse. According to the report, Spire Gas was contacted and no gas leaks were discovered. Firefighters advised management to seek repairs on the faulty alarm.

City firefighters responded at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, to 624 Ashcroft, MFA storage facility on a report of a strong gas smell close to the 5th Street overpass. According to the report, firefighters found a large storage tank with an open valve. An MFA employee was contacted to shut off the tank and scene was cleared.
