Four people were injured, three seriously, in a pair of area accidents, one occurring Sunday evening and the other happening Monday morning, according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The first accident occurred at 6:50 p.m. Sunday on County Road 279, two miles east of Puxico in Stoddard County.

Zachary A. Moore, 25, of Puxico reportedly was operating a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700 northbound when it struck an embankment, became airborne and overturned.

Moore was transported by Air Evac to St. Louis University Hospital.

The second accident occurred at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and Highway 142 in Neelyville.

According to the MSHP, Carlis P. Emmons, 65, of Holcomb was operating a 2013 Toyota Camry westbound when it pulled into the path of a southbound 2006 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Rex A. Wilburn, 66, of Neelyville.

Wilburn sustained moderate injuries, while Emmons and a passenger in his vehicle, Nancy Emmons, 66, also of Holcomb, both sustained serious injuries. All three were taken by EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
