Rev. Jimmie Bruce, 91, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Jan.16, 2022 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 8, 1930 to the late James and Mary (Scofield) Bruce. He married Edna Mae (Davidson) June 7, 1952 in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded in death Jan. 23, 2016...

Rev. Jimmie Bruce, 91, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Jan.16, 2022 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 8, 1930 to the late James and Mary (Scofield) Bruce. He married Edna Mae (Davidson) June 7, 1952 in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded in death Jan. 23, 2016.

Jimmie received his ordination certificate in 1987 to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, which he did with passion and sincerity. In 1992, he became pastor Of Kerns Chapel Church in Stringtown. He retired after 28 years of service to the church. He also retired after 20 years of service as a surgery orderly at Doctors Hospital. He was very proud when he was awarded employee of the year. He loved his church and church family, loved fishing and growing tomatoes.

Surviving are his children: Betty Williams (Ed), Ronnie Bruce, Diane Pierce; grandchildren, Justin Laffoon (Leah), Camden Donnell (Devin), Holly Bruce, Meredith Douglas (Craig) and great-grandchildren: Cash Laffoon, Ayden Dunkin, Camden Donnell, Brody Donnell, Raelynn Kassing, Adeline Douglas, Ralston Douglas, Barrett Douglas, Laird Douglas. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son Danny Bruce, a brother Fred Bruce, four sisters, Joe, Christine, Velma, Pauline.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 at Kerns Chapel Church at Stringtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the church with Rev. Allen Leutert officiating. Burial will follow in the Kerns Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kerns Chapel Cemetery to help with the upkeep of the cemetery.
