DEXTER, Mo. — Marty Thompson, 77, daughter of the late Bud Stanley and Betty Wheeler Stanley, was born March 21, 1944, in Corning, Arkansas, and departed this life Dec. 13, 2021, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mrs. Thompson was a former educator for 33 years and taught fourth grade at Dexter Public Schools in Dexter, Missouri. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. Marty was a member of the Dexter CTA, Dexter MSTA, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and she was on the Dexter Housing Authority Board of Directors.
On July 8, 1967, in Poplar Bluff, she was united in marriage to Larry Thompson. Mr. Thompson survives of their home in Dexter.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Jon Thompson and wife, Deidre, of Dexter; her daughter, Stephanie Thompson-Long and her fiancé, Scott Maintz, of Jackson; and three grandchildren, Mattie Thompson, Preston Thompson, and Ann Marie Long.
Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Stanley.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
