Ronald B. Burgess, 37, of the 100 block of Midland was arrested at 2:11 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 303 S. Westwood Blvd. on suspicion of violation of an order of ex parts. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Robert W. Riggs, 29, no address listed, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 1023 Mary Street on suspicion of first-degree trespassing and peace disturbance. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Larence E. Browers, 30, whop listed Poplar Bluff and Van Buren addresses, was arrested at 9:53 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, on Highway 67 on suspicion of abuse or neglect of a child and second-degree domestic assault. He was booked at the Butler County jail.
POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded to a call at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, reporting a structure fire at 915 North St. Upon arrival, they found a fully-involved fire They used 2,000 gallons of water to put the fire out, then used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots and set up a positive pressure ventilation fan. The city building inspector was called, as well as the state fire marshal.

Firefighters responded to a call at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, reporting smoke in the building at 2705 N. Westwood Blvd. Nothing was found.

Firefighters responded to a call at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, of an unauthorized burn behind 1034 S. Broadway. A large brush fire was found across the river from Ashcroft Road in the county.

Firefighters responded at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, of a possible car fire on Grand Avenue. They found a car slid off the roadway at 1800 Grand Ave. and they helped push the car out of the ditch.

Firefighters responded to a call at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, of an unknown fire at the 403 N. Second Street home rented by Tina Maclin. Upon arrival, they were told an electrical outlet had ben smoking. Firefighters found the smell of electrical smoke and discovered the outlets were overloaded with devices. They called Municipal Utilities to the scene to check the electric system.
BUTLER COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
County firefighters responded at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, to a report of a smell of smoke in the 569 County Road 564 home owned by David Beaird and occupied by Michael Morandi. It was determined to be a problem with the HVAC system.

County firefighters responded at 6:08 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, to a reported brush fire on County Road 606. It was determined to be a controlled burn.
MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL
Michael D. Jones, 32, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Butler County on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, excessive window tint and no insurance. He was booked at the Butler County jail on a 24-hour hold.

A 38-year-old man sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, on County Road 239, two miles west of Malden.
According to the report, Benjamin M. Frazier, 38, of Bernie was operating a 2007 Freightliner module truck southbound when it failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Frazier was transported by Survival Flight to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
