The Poplar Bluff Police Department continues to investigate a shooting Tuesday evening on the city’s east side, which left one man injured.
“We’re investigating a shooting that happened at the Munch & Pump on the east side,” Detective Danny Hicks said Wednesday morning.
The first report of a shooting came into the police department at 6:55 p.m., Hicks said.
“It looks like we have one victim with multiple gunshot wounds, but none are life threatening,” Hicks said.
That person was flown Tuesday night to Saint Louis University Hospital.
“We haven’t got a status on him yet today, but as of last night, it wasn’t life threatening,” he said.
As of Wednesday morning, Hicks said, no suspects have been identified, but investigators are “processing a couple vehicles” and reviewing video.
“We have a good video of the incident, so we’re trying to piece it together,” Hicks said.
The shooting, Hicks said, originally started at Casey’s and moved to the Munch & Pump.
“The incident started at Casey’s and the suspect followed the victim between Casey’s and Munch & Pump, and the victim entered into an unrelated vehicle that was occupied,” Hicks explained. “The suspect continued to shoot that vehicle.”
The victim, Hicks said, was shot prior to entering the vehicle at Munch & Pump and was fleeing from the gunman.
“No one else was injured other than the original victim that was fleeing,” Hicks said. Additionally, he said, there was no return gunfire and only one shooter was involved.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
