POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT

Firefighters responded to a call at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, of a motor vehicle accident on South Westwood Boulevard. They cleaned off the roadway once the vehicles were removed.

BUTLER COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT

County firefighters responded to a fire alarm at 6:27 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at 316 Newberry Lane. Nothing was found.

County firefighters responded at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, to a call of a gas leak at Second Street in Fisk. Upon arrival, they discovered a man was driving a fence post and struck a gas line.

County firefighters responded at 8:36 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, to a report of a structure fire at 248 Inman Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered it was an oven fire, and the homeowner already had put the fire out and removed the oven from the home.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

Cory L. Gumpenberger, 44, of St. Clair, Missouri, was arrested at 7:31 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at 110 N. Westwood Blvd. on failure to appear warrants for driving while revoked, no proof of auto insurance, possession of a controlled substance and second-degree trespassing, a parole violation warrant for stealing and on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Nicole S. Fletcher, 22, who listed Ryan Street and Bartlett Street addresses, was arrested at 10:37 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, on Bartlett Street on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the police station and released pending review of her case.

Nathaniel K. R. McCormick, 37, no address listed, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at 1040 S. Broadway on suspicion of resisting arrest and trespassing. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

An employee of First Midwest Bank at 204 E. Pine St. reported at 7:37 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, that someone had struck the bank building with a vehicle and left the scene.

Caleb Brand, 26, of Conroe, Texas, was arrested at 12:18 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, on a Franklin County warrant for exhibiting a weapon. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Charles Allen, 38, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Saturday, Oct. 2, on suspicion of stealing a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, stealing a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, fourth-degree domestic assault and a Butler County warrant for second-degree domestic assault. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Stacy Longhibler reported at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, that someone had entered her residence in the 1200 block of Gardner Street and stole two televisions and a game console.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

A 51-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, on U.S. Highway 67, two miles south of Fredericktown.

According to the report, Larry J. Morrow, 66, of Paragould, Arkansas, was operating a 2018 Dodge 2500 eastbound when it pulled into the path of a northbound 2002 Kia Sedona operated by Marilyn M. Blackman, 50, of Poplar Bluff.

Blackman was transported by ambulance to Madison County Medical Center in Fredericktown.

A 17-year-old male sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, on U.S. Highway 160, two miles east of Doniphan.

According to the report, the 17-year-old male was operating a 1997 Acura 30CL eastbound when it ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

The juvenile male was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Steven D. Werkmeister, 44, of Van Buren was arrested at 3:49 p.m. in Carter County on a felony Butler County failure to appear warrant for non-support and on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana and no seat belt. He was booked at the Carter County jail.

Tori N. Hedrick, 23, of Piedmont was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in Wayne County on suspicion of DWI (drugs) and no valid license. She was released.

Billy J. Hyten, 59, of Des Arc was arrested at 12:21 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Wayne County on suspicion of felony DWI, no driver’s license, no seat belt, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and failure to display valid plates. He was booked at the Wayne County jail on a 24-hour hold.

A 51-year-old man sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, on Highway 25, four miles south of Dexter.

According to the report, Charles D. Harris, 51, of Dexter was operating a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox northbound when it traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Harris was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center.

At 2:57 a.m. Harris was arrested in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI, no valid driver’s license and no seat belt. He was released for medical care.

A 38-year-old man sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 3:38 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, on U.S. Highway 67, three miles south of Poplar Bluff.

According to the report, Joseph E. Revelle, 38, of Fairdealing was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Trax southbound when it was struck by an unknown vehicle.

Revelle was transported by private conveyance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 21-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 5:53 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, on Highway TT, five miles east of Bunker in Reynolds County.

According to the report, Shyanne M. Nash, 19, of Ellington was operating a 2001 GMC pickup northbound when it ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and then rolled off the left side of the roadway.

A passenger in Nash’s vehicle, Hope H. Hunter, 21, of Bunker, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Reynolds County EMS to Salem Memorial Hospital.

Kreg A. Atkisson, 28, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3:54 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, in Butler County on a Ripley County felony warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, on U.S. Highway 67 in Greenville.

According to the report, Clifton D. Matlock-Smith, 23, of Greenville was operating a 2000 Toyota Avalon southbound when it failed to yield and pulled into the path of a northbound 2010 Toyota Corolla operated by Lacey R. Wallace, 18, of Piedmont. A MoDOT road identifying sign also was destroyed in the accident.

Matlock-Smith sustained minor injuries, while a passenger in his vehicle, Valerie R. Velazquez, 41, of Greenville, sustained moderate injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
