Celebrate National Newspaper Week with us
This week, we’ve talked to a former resident who wanted to share the good news of his promotion with the community he still stays in touch with, businesses celebrating new recognitions, communities planning fall festivals, residents working to overcome tragedy, athletes pushing to reach new goals, families who have recently lost loved ones and so many more. That also includes county commissioners who have put a tax measure on an upcoming ballot and a county prosecutor who has new funding to pursue those who commit crimes against children.
Those are stories that have been in our copies every day, for over 150 years, and are now also shared on our website and social media.
Are we perfect? Certainly not. We know that.
But what makes us a trusted source is that we verify the information we receive, we require named sources and when you have a question about our content, you can reach out and ask.
And when there’s a difficult or controversial topic to be discussed, we don’t pick and choose whose stories will get publicized based on backroom relationships.
This week, Oct. 3-9, is the 81st annual National Newspaper Week, a recognition of the service of newspapers and their employees across North America. It is recognized by more than 8,600 local newspapers covering the parades, the school board meetings and the soccer games across the nation and Canada.
We hope that you will celebrate this week with us, and we renew our commitment to providing the most local, diverse and balanced coverage for this region.
