Roy Phan Stewart Luellen, 31, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 1:53 p.m. Saturday, July 31, on a Butler County warrant for nonsupport. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

Sherry Lee Thomas/Cunningham, 37, of the 600 block of 600 Kinzer Street was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Friday, July 30, in the 500 block of Sycamore on a warrant for drug possession.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 3::29 p.m. Thursday, July 29, to Sanders and Relief streets to an unauthorized burn behind a house on Sanders. The occupant was burning a mattress. Firefighters made contact with the resident, who extinguished the fire.

Firefighters responded at 4:48 p.m. Friday, July 30, to a reported grass fire at the dead end of Morrison Road. Firefighters found tires and brush on fire. They used a booster line and 150 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters were dispatched at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, to 3400 Manor Place for a light pole on fire and found a ground transformer box open with a small fire. Firefighters called Municipal Utilities, who turned off the power to the transformer, which had been hit by lightning. Fire crews used a booster line and five gallons of water to put out the fire. A Butler County EMS crew also was on the scene.

Firefighters responded to 2330 Maud St. to a smoke and odor scare at 3:41 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check the entire structure and found nothing. No smoke was present and no odor was detected.

Firefighters responded at 8:06 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, to the Holiday Inn, 2781 N. Westwood Blvd., for a public service assistance to help a disabled guest. They called Butler County EMS for assistance with the guest, who was loaded on a cot and taken to his vehicle.

Firefighters responded at 1:16 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, to a two-vehicle accident at Highway 142 and Cravens Road. There were no entrapments. Firefighters helped Butler County EMS with packing one patient.

Firefighters responded to 2340 Kentucky Ave. to a carbon monoxide incident. Firefighters used a multi gas meter, which showed 35 ppm of carbon monoxide. Firefighters made contact with the gas company and housing authority. Poplar Bluff Police arrived so firefighters could gain entry to the furnace room. The gas company isolated the leak and make sure the reading dropped to acceptable limits.

Firefighter responded to an authorized controlled burn at 8:18 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Woodrow and Henry streets. Firefighters located a small fire of natural vegetation in the backyard. They told the resident the fire must be out at dark.

Firefighter responded at 10:25 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, to 441 N. Second St. to help EMS get a patient out of a residence, onto a stretcher and carried down a short flight of stairs into an ambulance.
