A Washington County man sits in the Butler County jail after being charged with stealing a motorcycle and a trailer earlier this month.

Jeffery S. Walker, 34, of Belgrade, Missouri, has been charged with two Class B felony counts of stealing a motor vehicle, watercraft or aircraft as a prior stealing offender. He also is charged with the Class D felony of stealing.

According to a probable cause statement, Butler County Deputy Sheriff Brett Campbell was dispatched to Dollar General, located at 3990 Highway 67, at 2:21 p.m. Friday, July 9, in reference to a motor vehicle theft.

Upon arrival, Campbell said a witness reported a 2013 Yamaha YZF 650R motorcycle belonging to his brother-in-law had been parked outside the business and had been stolen between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

At 4:51 p.m. that same day, Butler County Deputy Sheriff Richard Bruder was dispatched to Ken’s Trucking, located at 4351 Highway 67 in reference to the theft of a trailer. Upon arrival, a man reportedly told Bruder that a homemade 18-foot tandem axle trailer was stolen from the property at 1:30 p.m. that day.

Video supplied by Ken’s Trucking reportedly showed two white males in a pewter-colored Ford pickup backing up to the trailer, hooking it to the truck and taking it. One of the males was wearing a red t-shirt and ballcap. Additionally, video from Dollar General allegedly showed the same male in a red t-shirt and ballcap from Ken’s Trucking at Dollar General.

Another witness said they observed the Ford pickup and two males who reportedly stole the trailer also steal the motorcycle at Dollar General.

The stolen motorcycle was reportedly located July 11 by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

The following day, another witness identified the man in the red t-shirt and ballcap as Walker.

Additionally, Butler County Deputy Kaleb Johnson was dispatched to Ross Fuel Center, located at 3800 Highway 67, in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, a man reported that his gold 2005 Ford F350 dually truck had been stolen from the parking lot.

It was later confirmed that his truck had been used in the thefts, according to law enforcement, while he was out of town on business and his truck had been found July 12 burnt and destroyed in Ste. Genevieve County.

Walker is being held at the Butler County jail on $150,000 bond. He was slated to make his initial court appearance Thursday morning.
