Smith, 35, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, felony unlawful use of a firearm, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and no valid plates. He was booked in to the Wayne County Jail.

Sylvester N. Ritchey, 66, of Grandin was arrested at 10:09 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, on suspicion of DWI. He was booked at the Carter County Jail.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

A 39-year-old woman with addresses in the 500 block of Ninth Street and in Qulin is in the Butler County jail facing possible fourth-degree assault charges on a law enforcement officer.

A city patrol responded to a wellness check on a female laying in the middle of the roadway in the 1500 block of North Main Street at 8.57 p.m. Wednesday, June 30.

The officer found Misti Lynne Capps unresponsive in the roadway. He called for emergency medical services, but continued to work with her. When she did wake up, she refused to move off the roadway. For her safety, he pulled her out of the street. According to the report, when Medic One arrived, she allegedly began hitting EMS. As the officer grabbed her arm to stop the assault on EMS, she allegedly struck him in the right side of his head with an open hand.

When placed in handcuffs, Capps allegedly kept trying to kick and bite the emergency room staff. After being released from the medical center, Capps was booked into the Butler County jail.

Rondall Scott Brown, 41, of Fisk was arrested Wednesday, June 30, for being an owner in possession of a domesticate animal who bit someone resulting in a serious injury. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

Lori Jean Flickinger, 42, of 2000 block of Thomas Street was arrested Thursday, July 1, on suspicion of forgery. She was booked into the Butler County jail.

Destr Lenard Moore, 25, of the 100 block of Midland was arrested Wednesday, June 30, on suspicion of second-degree domestic assault. Moore was booked into the Butler County jail.

Jessica Nicole Quigley, 33, of Qulin was Wednesday, June 30, on suspicion of failure to appear warrants on displaying plates of another person, operating a vehicle without financial responsibility, failure to register a vehicle, two first degree trespassing charges and resisting/interfering with and arrest. She was booked into the Butler County jail.

Brandy Michelle Townsend, 27, of Puxico was arrested Thursday, July 1, on failure to appear warrants first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance (cannabinoid) and a controlled substance in a protected location. She was booked in to the Butler County jail.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT

Firefighters responded at 10:23 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, to 914 Butler Street to the report of a gas leak.

The resident said the knob on a gas cook stove had been left on. The resident opened the windows and doors to air the house.

Firefighters arrived and used a gas meter to check for presence of gas and none was detected.

Firefighters responded to Bluff Imaging, 2500 N. Westwood Blvd., at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, to a smoke detector activation. There was no fire and the alarm was unintentional.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burn at 1306 Gardener at 1:23 p.m. Tuesday, June 29. Upon arrival, they realized someone had burned wire, but the fire was out.

Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at 609 Park Avenue at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 29. The occupant arrived home to find her home full of smoke. She found fire in a pot on her stove and attempted to remove the pot and received minor burns to the hand and a small burn on her leg. She was not transported for treatment. Firefighters used two gallons of water in a water extinguisher to put out the fire. A thermal imagining camera was used to check for additional fire.

Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 6.24 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at 2409 Fair St. The victim had chest pains and the fire crew stood by until emergency medical services arrived on the scene and took over patient care.

Firefighters responded at 9:22 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, to 826 Maud St. to an authorized burn, which was a small trash fire. They informed the occupant of the city’s burn ordinance, extinguished the fire with no water before clearing the scene at 9:34 p.m.

Firefighters responded at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, to 417 E. Pine Blvd., to a fire alarm sounding. The owner did not know why the alarm was sounding, and firefighters reset it.
