A breakout of property damage cases as well as an incident of second degree tampering with a motor vehicle kept Poplar Bluff police busy recently.

On Wednesday, June 23, officers took a report from a resident in the 700 block of Mill Street. The individual reported hearing a popping sound around 1 a.m. at the residence’s back windows. A small circular hole was located in the window and a small silver object consistent with ball bearings, which are commonly shot from a sling shot, was located inside, police reported.

According to the report, the resident reported “quite a bit of foot traffic in the alley which runs from Maud and Spring streets.”

An employee at Grace Christian Fellowship, 3200 Warrior Lane, reported the same day to police an incident of stealing, property damage and second degree tampering with the church’s 2012 Ford Bus. The fuel tank under the bus had a small circular hole in it, according to police reports. A bucket with what is believed to be gasoline in it was located under the hole. A large area nearby is believed to have had gasoline spilled on it.

About 11:30 p.m., also on June 23, a resident in the 1300 block of Benton Street reported hearing glass shattering, but did not realize until Thursday morning the back glass in her van had been shattered.

In the 400 block of North G St. June 23, the owner of a 2018 Dodge Journey reported several small scratches on the front passenger door and a small dent on the front passenger door as well as damage to the rear driver’s side door.

An employee at a local manufacturing plant reported at 12:50 a.m. June 25, the rear window of his truck had been damaged while he was working.

Security cameras available at various locations are being reviewed.
