According to patrol reports, Delbert J. Mills , 65, of Marquand was driving a 1998 GMC Jimmy eastbound on Missouri Highway 72, two miles west of Patton, when he ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Mills was transported by ambulance to Madison Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead in the medical center by Dr. Tatineny at 10:17 a.m. Friday. He was the 27th fatality in Troop E.

A 17-year-old male was driving on Cape Girardeau County Road 472, east of County Road 471, when his 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe travelled off the roadway and struck an embankment and overturned, ejecting him, reports said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Cape Girardeau County Corner Wavis Jordan at 11:57 p.m. He was the 28th fatality in the troop this year.
