Lamarr J. ‘Poogin’ Millis passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 3, 2021 following a short illness. Poogin was born on January 2, 1933, in Ellsinore, Missouri to the late Jodie and Sybil Millis. He drove a truck as an owner/operator for over 60 years. In his younger days when he wasn’t working, he could be found on his boat indulging in his lifelong love of fishing. Lamarr J. ‘Poogin’ Millis passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 3, 2021 following a short illness.

Poogin was born on January 2, 1933, in Ellsinore, Missouri to the late Jodie and Sybil Millis. He drove a truck as an owner/operator for over 60 years. In his younger days when he wasn’t working, he could be found on his boat indulging in his lifelong love of fishing. He also enjoyed camping, riding his 4-wheeler and spending time with his family and friends.

In his post retirement years, Poogin enjoyed being out and about in the community. He enjoyed his mornings spent at Simmons Grocery and Hardware gossiping and enjoying the company of his friends.

Poogin is survived by three children, Joe Ann (Howard) Hall of Qulin, Missouri, Lamarr Millis, Jr. of Ellsinore and Carthyl (Janet) Millis of Vancleave, Mississippi. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Shelley (Gary) Guess of Qulin, Summer (Greg) Siebert of Qulin, Robbie Taylor of Poplar Bluff, Wendy Babb of Patterson, Jason Millis of Ellsinore, Seth Millis of Biloxi, Mississippi and Chelsea (Chris) Nobles of Saucier, Mississippi. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Glendon, Simon and Isaac Siebert, Austin and Nathan Babb, Gavan Linton, Adrian and Jaxon Nobles, Michael (Hannah) Litterst and Drew Kelm as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Mia and Emma Litterst. He is also survived by special lifelong friends, Charles and Geraldine Sohn.

In addition to his parents, Poogin was preceded in death by his three brothers, Clifford Millis, James Millis and Charles Millis.

There will be a graveside service held at a later date. McSpadden Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Carter County Meals on Wheels at P.O. Box 777 Van Buren, MO. 63965.
