City firefighters responded at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, to a report of an alarm at the Poplar Bluff Junior High School at 550 North Westwood. According to the report, firefighters arrived at the location and spoke to a maintenance man who reported the alarm was originating in room 11. After investigating the area, firefighters determined that popcorn had been popped in the room and had set off the alarm.

City firefighters responded at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, to a report of possible electrical issues at Hayden’s Drive-In located at 807 Maud Street. According to the report, crews found employees sweeping water out of the back door of the business and they were worried the influx of water into the business during the heavy rain might have caused electrical damage, but by the time firefighters arrived the water had receded significantly and there were no problems.
David Eric Babb, 36, of the 1600 block of North 14th Street was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at his residence. According to the report, Babb was arrested on a failure to appear warrant for child neglect, and two additional warrants for unlawful possession of a firearm and receiving stolen property. He was transported to the Butler County jail.

Kristin Nicole Underwood, 29, of the 100 block of Angelia was arrested at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the 1400 block of Black River Industrial Park. According to the report, Underwood was arrested for a parole violation and was booked at the Butler County jail.

Lauren B. Hernandez, 31, no address listed, was arrested at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the 1300 block of North Westwood Boulevard. According to the report, Hernandez was arrested on a Poplar Bluff failure to appear warrant for stealing and two Butler County warrants for passing bad checks and for a probation violation. She was booked at the Butler County jail.
Patricia Annette Easton-Biles, 56 of the 3100 block of South Westwood Boulevard was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, April 28, on a failure to appear warrant for disturbing the peace. She was laterreleased.

A Bloomfield man suffered minor injuries in a single vehicle crash at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, on County Road 517A, two miles northeast of Dexter. According to the report, a 2012 Nissan Xterra operated by Darin L. Pullum, 20, of Bloomfield was traveling southbound on County Road 517A when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch. Pullum was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with minor injuries.
