DONIPHAN — Ozark Vitality will be hosting a guided nature tour in the Southeastern Ozarks beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1.

Join the Ozark Vitality team to learn more about the area’s natural history and exceptional plant diversity found in the region.

The tour begins with a visit to the Heritage Homestead in Doniphan, where participants will meet their tour guide, Sasha Daucus, an expert in local wild plants. Beginning the tour in the historical Plunk Schoolhouse, Sasha will describe the natural history of the Eastern Ozarks using a storytelling narrative. Next, participants caravan together to The Narrows on the Eleven Point River. The route will include several points of interest to take in along the drive. The walk itself will cover about a mile of terrain and will last approximately an hour-and-a-half, with lots of stops for discussion and discovery.

The tour requires advance registration and the cost to participate is $20 per person, with discounts available for multiple registrations. Participants can learn more and register for the tour at: www.ozarkvitality.com/nature-walk.

In the event of rain, a rain date of May 15 has been set and all registered participants will be notified via email.

Ozark Vitality is a nonprofit organization formed to help make the Ozarks a better place to work, play and live. One of its projects is a short documentary series called My Ozarks, which highlights some of the people and places that make the Ozarks special.
