Rena Kathryn (Burton) Barnhill, 91 of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 in her Springfield home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born February 25, 1930 in Wynne, Arkansas, the daughter of Jesse Everett and Sue (Hatchett) Burton. She was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School. Kathryn was united in marriage to William N. ‘Bill’ Barnhill on October 29, 1948. Bill preceded her in death on April 7, 1997.
Kathryn was employed for several years by the Poplar Bluff Light and Water Company. After moving to Springfield in 1970 she went to work for SBC/ATT and retired in 1992. Kathryn enjoyed bowling, bingo, horse races and casinos. She really loved playing cards with her longtime buddies every week for many years. She even played ten days before she passed.
Kathryn is survived by granddaughter, Jaymi C. Smith of Springfield; granddaughter, Teresa Jolley and husband, Steve of Billings, Missouri; sister-in-law, Pat Burton of Conroe, Texas and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends who will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Sue Burton; husband, Bill Barnhill; daughter, Deborah Kay Barnhill- Burnette; son-in-law, Terry Burnette; her only sister, Clara (Burton) Cattron and her only brother, Jerry Burton.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn’s name to the American Heart Association.
