The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter has partnered with Missouri Rural Health Association and Memory Care Home Solutions to deliver the Customized Caregiver Training and Relief Program through funding by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The Caregiver Relief Program provides financial assistance to family caregivers living with and caring for persons with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. This program provides financial reimbursement to family caregivers for respite expenses, care products and supportive services, such as adult day care, in-home care, nutritional supplements and more.

Sarah Lovegreen, vice president of programs for GMAA is thrilled to offer this program to eligible families, stating “being able to provide a small amount of respite funds to caregivers can help relieve stress for one of the costliest diseases - allowing caregivers to take time to recharge while their loved one stays safe and cared for.”

Eligibility requirements include:

• The care receiver must live at home with the primary caregiver. Persons residing in long-term care communities are ineligible.

• The care receiver must have a diagnosis of probable Alzheimer’s disease or a dementia-related to vascular dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Pick’s disease, Lewy Body disease, etc.

• The care receiver’s residence must be in Missouri.

No application is required for this program. Caregivers in need of support should call the 24/7 Helpline 800-272-3900 to request a respite care consultation with a dementia expert. Enrollment in the program is contingent upon funding availability.
