A Doniphan man is being held without bond on a charge of molesting a girl less than 12 years old.
Arlis Greathouse Jr., 43, was arrested about 9 a.m. Sunday, April 4, after walking into a local motel lobby and asking for the police to be called so he could turn himself in. He was arrested there by Doniphan City Police.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Det. Chad Keathley of the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, the victim’s mother contacted authorities on Saturday night, April 3, to report the girl had been molested at their home.
Greathouse reportedly had been living at the residence since February. Authorities said he was wanted in Arkansas as a parole absconder.
Det. Keathley said in his PCA that Greathouse left the house on foot. Authorities reportedly searched but were unable to locate him.
He was booked at the Wayne County Jail.
On April 5, Ripley County prosecutor Edward M. Thompson filed against Greathouse one Class B felony count of second-degree child molestation - victim less than 12 years old.
Greathouse appeared April 7 for arraignment in Ripley County Circuit Court and entered a not guilty plea. He is set to appear again April 21 for a bond hearing.
