Firefighters responded to a report of an unauthorized burn at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at 111 Hampton Court in Poplar Bluff. Firefighters used five gallons of water to put out the fire and informed occupant Scott Gouger of the city’s burn laws.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:08 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, to a report of a school bus fire on Shelby Road. It was a false alarm.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

Lahendra B. McCoy, 38, who listed two Poplar Bluff addresses, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at 303 S. Westwood Blvd. on suspicion of peace disturbance. He was booked at the Butler County jail for a 24-hour hold.

BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT

Brandy Swafford of Fisk reported Tuesday, March 23, that one of her license plates as well as several mechanical parts had been removed from her vehicle.

Deputies responded Thursday, March 18, to the residence of Timothy Poynor of the 2800 block of Windwood Drive. Poynor reported that his 2007 Honda Recon ATV was stolen from his backyard.

Zakary L. Gilliland, 22, of the 700 block of Riverview Drive was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, March 24, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid, 35 grams or less).

Zachwrie S. Parr, 24, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, March 24, on suspicion of third-degree assault, possession of amphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, peace disturbance (first offense) and failure to appear on a warrant for no proof of auto insurance.

Frederick E. Willis, 39 of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, March 24, on a suspected violation of supervised release.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

A 16-year-old male suffered moderate injuries in a single-vehicle crash at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, on Dunklin County Road 217, two and a half miles west of Campbell. According to the report, the male was operating a 2013 Nissan Altima when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch.

The juvenile was transported by survival flight to Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

A 21-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, on the North Outer Road, two miles north of Poplar Bluff.

According to the report, Mikana R. Kaempfe of Poplar Bluff was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when it crossed the center of the roadway and struck a 2001 Dodge Ram operated by Clarence F. Williams, 59, of Poplar Bluff.

Kaempfe was transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.
