City firefighters were called at 6:17 p.m. Monday, March 1, to 2328 Tennessee Ave., regarding an unauthorized burn and found an unattended trash fire. The building’s occupants were advised of a city’s fire ordinance. According to the report, firefighters used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

City firefighters were called by the resident of 947 Gardner St. at about 6:37 a.m. Monday, March 1, about a burning smell. According to the report, firefighters traced it to an HVAC that came into contact with lint and debris. A crew was deployed to check the unit for abnormal heat and found the unit functioning within normal ranges.

Lee Anthony Abraham, 52, of the 600 block of Dewey Street, was booked Tuesday, March 2, at Butler County jail on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

A two-car collision occurred 8:18 a.m. Monday, March 1, on Highway 34 at County Road 215 in Wayne County, five miles east of Silva.

According to the report, Rebeccca D. Woods, 32, of Greenville was driving a 2016 Dodge Journey when she failed to yield to a 1997 International Semi tractor-trailer being driven by William D. Dorris, 51, of Silva and was struck by the tractor-trailer.

A passenger in Woods’ car, Wesley Bilbrey, 33, of Killeen, Texas, and Dorris were both transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with injuries. According to the report, Dorris had moderate injuries; Bilbrey’s injuries were minor.
