BLOOMFIELD — Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner reports on March 4, as a result of an ongoing drug investigation, his department, along with the SEMO Drug Task Force, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Dexter Police Department intercepted approximately 74 pounds of marijuana on Highway 60 near Grayridge.

The marijuana was en route from California and was headed to a residence in Dexter.

Seven bales of marijuana containing 1-pound packages and $7,900 in cash were seized.

The vehicle was operated by a male subject identified as Jack E. Schmerber of Dexter. He currently is being held at the Stoddard County Jail on the Class C felony of trafficking drugs.
