Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 12:26 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, to a call about possible smoke on the roof of 400 North Main Street. According to the report, upon arrival, firefighters found nothing out of the ordinary. Foggy weather conditions are believed to have caused a mistaken report of smoke.

City firefighters were dispatched at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, to the Kids’ Corral Care Center, 2337 N. Main St. about a fire alarm sounding. According to the report, while enroute they were advised a fire alarm was activated by accident.

City firefighters responded at 4:14 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, to a structural fire at 1428 N. 12th St. According to the report, while enroute, dispatch informed them an occupant was ‘wanted and considered armed and dangerous.’ Multiple officers were at the scene when firefighters arrived. Officers confirmed the residence was clear and firefighters entered and found ‘“insulation smoldering in the attic,’’ firefighters reported. Firefighters determined ‘“electrical wires had shorted out and caught the insulation on fire.’’ Investigators determined the ‘“occupants had wired around the meter base to power the house.” Utility power to the house was cut.
