NEELYVILLE — Harvey Dewayne French, 75, of Harviell, Missouri, passed away Feb. 9, 2021, at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born Dec. 15, 1945, at Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to the late James and Bethel Wolverton French.
On Nov. 19, 1965, at Neelyville, Missouri, he was married to Linda Harlan. She survives.
Also surviving: Children, Linda Lea Oesterreicher and husband Paul of Poplar Bluff, James French and wife Darla of Bowling Green, Kentucky, John French and wife Niki of Neelyville, Joseph French and wife Pinar of Dayton, Ohio, Lisa French and wife Jackie of Doniphan, Missouri, Jerry French of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Laura Rush of Fairdealing, Missouri; one sister, Barbara Jones of Harviell; and one brother, James French of Hazelwood, Missouri. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents as well as one brother, Russell French.
Mr. French was a member of the Current River Baptist Church of Doniphan, where he served as deacon and treasurer. He had served as leader of the cub and Boy Scouts for several years. He was VFW Man of the Year in 1985, and Three Rivers named him Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the year for 2015-2016. He taught high school and college math.
He loved learning and teaching, enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s ballgames and their activities, and enjoyed outside work.
Visitation for Mr. French will start at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, with the funeral following at 1 p.m., all in the Fowler and Sons Funeral Home of Neelvyille. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery with Pastor Wes Flaugh and Pastor Delbert McLaughlin, officiating.
