City firefighters responded at 2:25 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, to a report of a fire at Mill and Apple. When they arrived, they found a homeowner burning leaves in their backyard.

City firefighters responded at 3:19 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, to the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center for a fire alarm with water flow. Firefighters arrived on scene to find no fire and were told someone was working on the sprinkler system and accidently set off the alarm.

James J. Taylor, 33, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Monday, Feb.1, to serve 48-hour shock time.
One Stoddard County teenager was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, on County Road 527, three miles northeast of Dexter in Stoddard County. According to the report, a 16-year-old female was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze northbound while a 17-year-old female was operating a 2001 Toyota Camry when the two vehicles struck each other head-on on the crest of a hill. The 16-year-old was taken by ambulance to Southeast Health of Stoddard County.

Stephen C. Langdon, 30, of Steele was arrested at 4:01 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to display license plates and no insurance. Langdon was booked at the Dunklin County Jail and released.
