Bruce Gene Pittman, 72, of Poplar Bluff passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Bruce was born Oct. 14, 1948, to Medford and Geraldine Harris Pittman in Poplar Bluff. He and Carolyn “Katie” Willeford were married May 25, 1969, at the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
Bruce was retired from Union Pacific Railroad and was a Baptist minister for many years. He was also a former member of the United Transportation Union.
In addition to his loving wife, Bruce is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Nathan) Wheeles of Elizabethtown, Indiana; three grandchildren, Makenna (Shawn) Ohara of Poplar Bluff, Landon Wheeles of Elizabethtown and Lainey Wheeles of Elizabethtown; and two brothers, Ralph Pittman of Murray, Kentucky, and Mike Pittman of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bruce is preceded in death by a brother, Bill Pittman.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. until time of the service at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will be held at noon with the Rev. Brandon Spain officiating. Burial will be Thursday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
