It’s time to be grateful for the blessings we have

Thursday, December 31, 2020

Last year, the DAR staff talked about starting the decade off right, “Let’s learn from each other and practice compassion before all else, even when we can only agree to disagree.”

Then, 2020 came onto the scene. Suffice it to say, we didn’t start the decade off on the right note in pretty much any way.

There’s still hope; however, that 2021 can turn things around.

Whether it will is still up to question, but it could.

Honestly, the message this year isn’t all that different that it was last year.

Going into the new year, we all have the chance to come back together. The most important part of that is to treat each other with civility.

We all have the right to our own opinions and to discuss why we have those opinions.

The people around us likely have at least one area where they look at things differently and thus have a different opinion.

Fighting and arguing about them won’t get us anywhere.

Along with the resolution to treat each other with civility, there’s another one to mention this year.

Remember to be grateful for what you have. So many people lost a lot this year, from loved ones to jobs.

Even if you have less than you did a year ago, appreciate what you do have.

One lesson of 2020 has been how fast things can change and how fast we can lose something.

We should all remember to take advantage of the blessings we have.
