Thank you members of the Fraternal Order of Police for spending your time raising funds to take children in need on a Christmas shopping spree.

Thank you organizers of Project Christmas Promise for the countless hours spent ensuring that every child in Butler County wakes up to presents Dec. 25.

Thank you United Gospel Rescue Mission for feeding everyone who comes through your doors on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and all of the other days of the year that you serve hot meals to those in need.

Thank you Colvin McDonald for everything you did to support and improve the Poplar Bluff community.

Thank you Wappapello Lake Area Association for creating a Christmas light display, which is perfect in a year of social distancing celebrations.

Thank you Fellowship General Baptist Church and Boys and Girls Club of Poplar Bluff for the good you have done this week and year-round in our area.

Thank you Jim Ward and the many good people at the Bread Shed for the work you do feeding the hungry in our community.

When we start counting our blessings at the Daily American Republic, the list can get long pretty quickly.

These are just the people we’ve met and celebrated with this week and in recent weeks.

It proves we’ve got a lot to be grateful for this year, makes us look forward to everyone we’ll meet next week, and the many wonderful stories we have yet to tell this holiday season.
