The Agee Community Club met Oct. 16 at the Lemonade House Grill. This month’s hostess was Jeanie Figgins. Club President Cathy Womack was unable to attend this month, so Vice President Nickey Orton opened the meeting with the ladies repeating the club motto, “When the heart is full of love the world is full of beauty.”
It was followed by the invocation, given by Michael Figgins, Figgins’ son, who was also a guest this month. Devotional was given by Nadine Johnson from the Reader’s Digest titled, “Six surprising times that you are quoting the Bible.”
Figgins read the secretary and treasurer’s reports. There was no old business to discuss. Next month’s hostess will be Cathy Womack. Roll Call was answered with, “A recipe that I enjoy making,” and a booklet with recipes was handed out. Black River Times were handed out to the ladies. Figgins read a poem written by belated honorary club member Orel Smith titled, “Dear Friends.” The ladies dismissed with the club collect, “Be Still and Know that I am God,” Psalms 46:10.
