Neelyville’s state playoff game at Vienna has been postponed until Thursday.

Neelyville coach Cindy Siebert said she got a call Wednesday morning a little after 8 a.m. that Vienna’s field was too wet after recent rain. The current plan is to play tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Vienna, but if the field is still unplayable, the game will be moved to Neelyville.

“They think they will be able to get their field ready, but they will let us know in the morning,” Siebert said.

The Tigers also weren’t able to get on their field Monday with steady rains throughout the day. Yesterday, the infield was still too wet to work on infield defense, but Siebert said she hopes they’ll be able to do that today. The plan today was also to get in some batting practice before the team makes the three-hour drive to Vienna.

The move could benefit the Tigers, who will now have an extra day to practice on their field while their opponent cannot.

“Today I think we should be able to do that, take some swings on the field, get some defensive reps on the field, that kind of thing,” Siebert said.

The winner of the sectional playoff advances to the quarterfinal Saturday.

Should the Tigers win, Neelyville would host the quarterfinal only if Weaubleau beats Marion C. Early. If Neelyville ends up hosting the sectional playoff Thursday and win, the Tigers would be on the road Saturday.
