Lisa Marie Battles, 43, of the 400 block of B Street was booked at the Butler County jail Tuesday, Oct. 20, on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Dezra S. Blume of Broseley reported Tuesday, Oct. 20, that her Taurus 9mm pistol was stolen from her daughter’s vehicle. The firearm was last seen in August.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

A 42-year-old Piedmont man was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the intersection of South Westwood Boulevard and County Road 471.

According to the report, Aaron J. Montoya was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. He told officers he was traveling on the road when he allegedly failed to turn on a curve as his vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.

A witness reported she was traveling northbound on Westwood Boulevard behind Montoya’s car, which she allegedly was swerving back and forth into oncoming traffic.

The witness further reported as she was calling authorities, she saw it cross the oncoming lane and run off the road, where it collided with a tree.

Montoya was arrested at 8:02 a.m. on suspicion of DWI (drugs). He was released.

Nikia Shantell Hicks, 35, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Orscheln Farm and Home on suspicion of stealing. She was booked and released pending review of the case by the prosecuting attorney.
