BROSELEY — Rev. John McFarlen, age 82, of Broseley, Missouri, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at Cotton Point Living Center, in Matthews, Missouri. Mr. McFarlen was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Dexter, Missouri, to the late Clarence and Martha Ann McFarlen.
On July 25, 1957, he married Norene Adams. She preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2003. On July 15, 2004, he married Evelyn Johnson. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2019. He pastored several churches, including Myrtle Baptist Church in Myrtle, Missouri, Dudley Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Memorial Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church in Wappapello.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, basketball, and most of all reading his bible and telling others about Jesus.
He is survived by two daughters: Debra (John) Gittemeier of Troy, Diane (Jessie) Metz of Poplar Bluff; four step sons: Steve (Karen) Johnson of Piedmont, Bob (Julie) Johnson of Poplar Bluff, Ron (Suzy) Johnson of Wappapello, and Mike (Ruby) Johnson of Lowndes; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four children: Sharon, Jerry, Gary and Donna McFarlen, and 11 siblings.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Caroline Dowdy Cemetery at Dexter.
