Russell Lee Bryant, 80, of Wappapello, Mo., completed his journey on this earth Tuesday evening, Aug. 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Russell, the son of the late Robert Scott and Bernice Ellen (Frank) Bryant, was born Oct. 5, 1939 in Scott County, Mo. He attended First United Methodist Church in Wappapello. Russell proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, maintaining and repairing aircraft. After the war he worked for many years as a repairman for Sears. Russell was a jack-of-all-trades and a perfectionist at his endeavors. He loved to fish, do woodworking and build and remodel houses. He also loved to cook and was praised by family and friends for his wonderful rolls, cakes, pies and brisket. Even though stern in his thinking, he was generous and loving to his family and many friends

Russell married the love of his life Ocia Wyvonne Rodgers on May 27, 1967. She survives.

Other survivors include two sisters, Ruth Ann Lacy of Sikeston and Sue (Dale) Morris of Doniphan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, Russell was also preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Kay Bryant, and a brother, Robert Scott Bryant II.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020 at First United Methodist Church in Wappapello, with Rev. Craig Hamilton officiating. Following the Celebration Russell will be escorted by the Missouri Patriot Guard to the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield for a graveside service with full military honors scheduled at 3 p.m. SERVICES REQUIRE A FACE COVERING AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WHEN POSSIBLE.

Memorial donations may be made to Danny Bell Cancer Center.
