Butler County saw a new COVID-19 single-day record Thursday as 25 new positive cases were recorded.
Butler County Health Department officials announced 13 new cases Thursday morning and an additional 12 in the afternoon.
The county’s previous single-day record for positive cases came Monday, when 14 were counted.
The total for Butler County now stands at 253 cases, according to health department information.
The latest update from the department shows 191 people have recovered from the virus, while three remain hospitalized and three have died. The remainder are isolating at home as they recover.
The new cases, according to health department staff, are the result of several days of testing and have come from several different laboratories. Some results even are from July tests.
Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center said Wednesday it had seven patients hospitalized with COVID-19. PBRMC treats patients from across the region.
Statewide the number of cases has grown to 55,321, with 1,280 deaths reported, as Phase 2 of Gov. Mike Parson’s Show Me Recovery plan remains in place.
