Shelby Gene Stearns, 78, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Stearns was born Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1941, in Caraway, Arkansas, daughter of the late Harrison and Fannie Taylor. She enjoyed quilting and visiting with her neighbors. She was a member of The Church of God of Prophesy in Poplar Bluff.
On March 24, 1978, she married Trennis Stearns. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2017.
She is survived by two sisters, Lorell Scott of Babcock, Wisconsin, and Leatha Sanford and husband, Donald, of Doniphan; three brothers, J.D. Taylor and wife, Pam, of Troy, David Taylor and wife, Glenda, of Billings, Montana, and Gerald Taylor of California, Missouri; one sister in law, Janie Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her step mother, Marie Taylor; one brother, Everett Taylor; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Scott, and one sister-in-law, Trudy Taylor. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, July 9, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenny King officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery at Bloomfield, Missouri.
