Mrs. Surretta Louise Treadway, 59, of Flint, Michigan passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 14, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Lucy Louise Rodgers Johnson and the late Andrew Sales.
Mrs. Treadway grew up in Flint, Michigan and attended Flint Northern High School, graduating in 1978. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint. She had a great work ethic and was employed by the Genesee County Road Commission, Hurley Medical Center and IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a member of Eliezer Church Apostolic Faith, in Flint, Michigan under the leadership of Bishop Raymond H. Dunlap.
Mrs. Treadway enjoyed fishing, sewing, decorating, spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. The Andy Griffith Show, King of Queens, Bonanza, Gun Smoke and Family Feud were some of her favorite television shows to watch. She also had dreams of being a fashion designer and model. Her passions were spending quality time with her mom, taking care of the elderly, being connected to her family, enjoying life by playing Bid Whist and just having a good time. She will be most remembered by giving great advice with no “filter.”
She leaves to cherish her memory: ex-spouse, Alonzo Treadway of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Clemeana Sherell (Martinis) Long of Detroit, Mich. and A’della Shanell Rodgers of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren, A’Niya Rodgers, Ashton Rodgers-Crocker, Armani Daniels, Ameyah Daniels, all of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mecca Long of Detroit, Mich.; one great-grandson, Korion Benton, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; mother, Lucy Louise Rodgers-Johnson of Flint, Mich.; two brothers, Calvin E. Jackson of Flint, Mich. and Raymond E. (Tocha) Rodgers of Taylor, Mich.; two special sisters, Tocha Rodgers of Taylor, Mich. and Margaret Thornton of St. Louis, Mo.; one nephew, Raymond E. Rodgers, II of Taylor, Mich.; four nieces, Devon Rodgers of Mt. Morris Township, Mich., Angelina Greenard of Warren, Mich., Tina Thornton-Jackson of St. Louis, Mo. and Danielle Holmes of St. Louis, Mo.; five great-nieces, including special nieces, Arionna Blair of St. Louis, Mo. and Gabrielle Gibson of Mt. Morris Township, Mich.; a host of cousins including special cousins, Michael McClendon of Chicago, Ill. and Harvester Carter of Grand Rapids, Mich.; godchildren, Demond Davis of Lake Wood, Wash., Dionna (Kyron) Harvell of Lansing, Mich. and Dominique Davis of Lansing, Mich.; one aunt, Rosie Cooper-Benzie of St. Louis, Mo.; one step-sister, Belle Star Johnson of East St. Louis, Ill.; three step-brothers, Tommie Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Rickey Johnson, all of Searcy, Ark.; other special brothers, Robert Jackson of Atlanta, Ga., Arthur Jackson, Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., Terry Jackson of Merryville, Ill. and Michael Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind.; father of children, Clenzell Page of Flint, Mich.; best friends, Rosie (Darryl) Ellison of Mt. Morris, Mich., Kim Davis of Flint, Mich., Aretha Sheard of Flint, Mich., Pauline Isom of Flint, Mich. and Colleen Liggins of Mt. Morris, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her: father, Andrew Sales; sister, Shirley Ann Rodgers; grandparents, Charlie and Della Ivory-Rodgers; and uncle, Charlie Mervin Rodgers.
Special thanks to her mother Lucy Louise Rodgers-Johnson for her outstanding love and support, Tocha Rodgers, Clenzell Page, Pauline Isom, Rosie and Darryl Ellison, Melanie and Eric Hardy, also the staff at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor and Hurley Medical Center.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to everyone who has shown their support not only during this difficult time, but throughout Surretta’s entire life. Your kindness and concern for our family means a great deal to us. We appreciate all the love and support you have extended to us during this period of sadness. The prayers, love and special care that has been shown has truly been a blessing to our family.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, June 6, 2020 in the Fitch-Hillis Chapel with graveside services to follow at City Cemetery.
