Dorothy Helen Ray, 95, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.
Dorothy was born on Oct. 13, 1924, to Pete and Ora Coulson in Corning, Arkansas. She married G.B. “Bill” Ray in Essex, Missouri, in 1940.
Dorothy was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. She enjoyed square dancing, painting and was also a member of the RailRoad Women’s Group.
She worked as a nurse for many years at Kneibert Clinic for Dr. Kneibert and Dr. Barbour.
She is survived by one son, Bill and his wife, Bonnie, Ray of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, Ken Poteet, Pamela Poteet, David Ray, LeAnna Cochran, Sarah Blandford, Gaye Morgan and Kenny Collard; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, G.B. “Bill” Ray; two daughters, Alice Mae Poteet and Francie Collard Black; two grandchildren, Billy Joe Ray and Amy Collard; her parents, Ora and M.A. Pete Coulson; and three siblings, Melvin Coulson (Mildred: surviving), Ernest Coulson (Alberta), and one sister in infancy.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22, at Ash Hill Cemetery in Fisk, Missouri, with a graveside committal service to follow at 11 am. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Byron Beck.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Nutrition Center or Child Concern.
