The Poplar Bluff Municipal Library will begin curbside service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, following a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule.

Library staff are taking progressive steps and are accepting materials to begin curbside service. This allows staff to quarantine items, reshelve, and prepare items for safe checkout for our patrons. These services, including returning items through the outside book drop, continue.

To use curbside service, call the library at 573-686-8639, or set your hold through My Account on the library’s web page www.poplarbluff.org. When you call, a staff member helps set your holds and gives you directions to use this service. Additional directions for using the service are available through your email once your hold becomes available.

“We, in partnership with our community, continue to make the best of this challenging time.” stated Sue Crites Szostak, director. “We have issued over 100 eCards, giving more access than ever to our Digital Library, staff created podcasts, informational videos, storytimes, book clubs and escape rooms. Our ebook circulation is in the thousands. Thank you for continuing to enjoy and use your local library and its services.”

Visitor safety and staff safety “are our priority as we cautiously begin to reopen library services. We celebrate your resourcefulness and encourage you to stay connected,” Szostak said. “Visit our website to find the information you seek, and ask us when you have trouble finding it. We may not always have the answer just yet, but will continue to keep you updated by email as we know more.

Library staff are available to answer your questions 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Staff will assist you with your holds, offer recommendations for library materials, and provide answers to your informational questions.
