The Butler County Commission will limit building access to the county courthouse, courts and offices in an effort to be proactive against the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
“We are asking the public to limit access to the courthouse for urgent business only,” the Commission said in a statement released Tuesday. “We encourage our constituents to use online access, drop boxes or call for any questions.”
Signs will be placed outside the courthouse to direct the public, which will be only able to access the building from the east side entrance and the basement handicap entrance.
The Commission adds, “we all need to be focused on following all CDC and OHSA guidelines, standards and directives related” to the coronavirus. These include hand washing, the use of alcolhol-based hand sanitizers, staying home if feeling ill, limiting business travel, advising employees to avoid large gatherings and increasing fresh air in buildings.
“As we work in uncharted territory, we are taking the steps best known to us at this time,” the statement said. “As situations change, we will make the proper adjustments. As always, the health, safety and well-being of our constituents, our employees and our communities are of paramount concern. We will continue to monitor this evolving situation, please feel free to reach out to us at any time with questions or comments.”
