The officers and staff of the Poplar Bluff Police Department will join agencies around the country in implementing social distancing measures to help stem the spread of the “COVID 19” virus. Our police officers come into close contact with several dozen people throughout their shift; and we do not want these contacts to spread infection.

In the event of non-emergency calls to residential addresses, officers may ask residents to step outside to speak with them.

As much as possible, officers will try to avoid physical contact and to maintain 6 feet distance between themselves and the public. Officers are discouraged from shaking hands. They are not being rude, they are doing their part to protect the most vulnerable citizens of our community and our nation.

If a resident or family is ‘self-quarantined,’ and would like to make a (non-emergency) criminal complaint by phone, they can call the department (573-785-5776) and ask that an officer call them back.

Part of the Poplar Bluff Police Department mission is to protect the lives and well-being of the citizens we serve. By taking these preventive measures it is our hope that we can limit the effect of this potentially dangerous illness.
