The Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department held a ground breaking ceremony for the new expansion to the Stoddard County Jail on Wednesday afternoon. The new addition will allow for additional room for inmates, new kitchen, booking, laundry rooms, medical room, ambulance bay and segregated areas for sex offenders and those with mental disabilities. Also there will be a program space for groups to host church services or possibly substance abuse classes, as well as new mechanical and IT rooms to serve the entire building. The existing jail will see a complete renovation as part of the project.
